What’s so special about newborn Photography?
Honest moment here… I was terrible about taking pictures of my own children. I should have hired a photographer.
When Lily was born, I was young and had not found my passion, yet. I went to college and receive an art education degree. I loved children, I love art- perfect match. My emphasis was painting, not photography and I created an elaborate nursery with murals of flower fairies and a wall dedicated to van Gogh. I was infatuated with my daughter from first sight. I cuddled, I swaddled, I gave her everything, but I forgot to take pictures!
Did I do better for the second child? Of course, not! I was worse. My biggest regret is how few pictures we have of his first year.
Now as my oldest approaches teen years, and my youngest in in 1st Grade, I wish I had pictures of his ginger peach fuzz head, and her beautiful blue eyes (which turned green at age5, who knew!). I want my clients to have museum quality artwork of their babies, hung on the wall. I want their children to grow up seeing these images and know that they are loved.
Second Honest Moment…
I love babies. I am a little obsessed, always have been. When a mom brings her baby into my studio I am itching to hold him as soon as his little squirming body is taken out of that cozy carseat. I can’t wait to rock him, soothe him and see him sleep peacefully while we take beautiful images of a happy, content baby. That’s my happy place!
